# Changelog

Every version of Jayraid, newest first. Version names: **Alpha 1.x.y** - new content raises the middle number, a pure fix the last one.

## Alpha 1.41.1 · 21.10.2026 · Jumping and swimming

New: swim with sprint in deep water, in the direction you look, with arm strokes and bubbles. Changed: jumping has weight, your momentum carries you through the air, and take off and landing kick up dust and sound.

## Alpha 1.41.0 · 20.10.2026 · Blood moon

New: three game modes (Sandbox, Adventure, Challenge), day and night in every world, blood moon raids on your base with field cannons, watchtowers with Melvin at the top, a poison moon with acid rain, a saving screen when you leave a world and a new main menu. Challenge has only four lives. Changed: divers only attack when you strike first or during a raid, deeper and punchier sounds, more weight when you walk, short notes at the top instead of long messages, and music only plays during raids.

## Alpha 1.40.0 · 19.10.2026 · Story goals and sound

New: the first time you enter a world, the game asks if you want to follow the story. Say yes and goals guide you, top right with an arrow, the distance and a golden beam, from the first watchtower to the chained golem. Say no and it stays a pure sandbox. Press J to switch anytime. Fixed: no sound on PCs without OpenAL installed, the game now brings its own. Changed: messages no longer replace each other and wait until a fight calms down, and the torch next to the cannons uses the new model.

## Alpha 1.39.1 · 17.10.2026 · Tool keys fixed

Fixed: T, R and C now put the torch and the wands into a free hotbar slot. Before, the blocks in the slot you were holding quietly moved into your backpack. Also, a fire that gets put out right away now leaves a light burn mark.

## Alpha 1.39.0 · 16.10.2026 · Bell leap and step up

The bell creature has a new attack: after ringing it crouches and leaps at you, and a golden ring shows where it will land. The landing breaks through any block, so step out of the ring. New: walk into a one block ledge and you step right up. Changed: your guard comes up in front of you instead of to the side, your lives sit on the left above the hotbar and the item name on the right.

## Alpha 1.38.0 · 16.10.2026 · Combat, blocking and a living world

Your fist hits what the crosshair is on. Hold both mouse buttons to block one hit (the bar above the hotbar refills in four seconds). A sabre thrust knocks enemies back, standing still and hammering gets punished with a sprinting stab, and at most two enemies attack at once. Enemies look more battered with every hit. Mining takes time (dirt two, sand and gravel three, stone four seconds), snow, sand and dry gravel crumble, and gravel by the water becomes wet gravel. Fire chars wood and grass, and traders put out ship fires with snow. Grass has climate zones up to snow, and the arms are new.

## Alpha 1.37.0 · 16.10.2026 · Trader window and new font

Press E at a trader to open a window: your inventory on the left, the trader's inventory on the right and a trade field in between. Drag an offer into the field, the cost is shown below, and with enough material you confirm the trade. Plus a redrawn hexagon font that is much easier to read.

## Alpha 1.36.0 · 10.10.2026 · Torch throw

With the torch in hand, hold the right mouse button: dots show the arc, an outline the landing spot. Release to throw. The torch then sticks in the ground, keeps burning, lights up the area and sets wood, leaves and grass on fire; water puts it out. Walk over it to pick it up again.

## Alpha 1.35.0 · 10.10.2026 · Launcher colours

The whole in-game interface now uses the launcher's colours: black, grey, orange and white. Menus, settings, inventory and hotbar match, and your lives are orange hexagons like the visor in the logo. Plus a bigger icon for the taskbar and desktop.

## Alpha 1.34.0 · 09.10.2026 · Fire and sparks

Burning ends again (water and rain put it out), rain douses burning blocks, fire flickers livelier and spreads smoothly. Particles carry a hex pixel pattern, hits show cross stars, and grass has no more grey dots.

## Alpha 1.33.0 · 09.10.2026 · Fire

Wood, planks, leaves and grass catch fire: from a burning player, fire arrows and cannonballs. It spreads a little and chars the blocks away; water puts it out. All particles and the rain are now real 3D prisms instead of flat sprites.

## Alpha 1.32.0 · 09.10.2026 · Block throw

Hold Q and right click to throw the block in your hand in an arc; it sets itself where it hits. A preview shows the path and landing cell, and every throw is the same at any frame rate (made for speedruns). The launcher starts the game without a terminal window.

## Alpha 1.31.0 · 08.10.2026 · Inventory

Free inventory: key I unfolds 48 slots, drag anything anywhere and swap it. New worlds start empty; the sabre is loot from defeated sabre divers. You can man the howitzer yourself. Far fewer stutters while the world loads.

## Alpha 1.30.0 · 08.10.2026 · Twelve lives

A dozen whole lives as hexagons instead of half hearts: every hit costs exactly one. The bell's sound wave hits exactly as far as you can see it. The golem's treasure chest leaps in an arc in front of the player and visibly eats its way into the ground.

## Alpha 1.29.0 · 07.10.2026 · Pixel workshop

The angry traders now slap you with fish made of hexagon pixels. New: the pixel workshop to pixel the sabre, torch, wands and the fish yourself (with an eyedropper) and put them straight into the game. The launcher version menu is smaller.

## Alpha 1.28.0 · 07.10.2026 · Cave fires

Green fires in the caves, the green cave wand (sometimes from traders) shows the way, bell battle music, hexagon buttons and inventory, torch and wand made of hexagons, outlines between stacked blocks fixed.

## Alpha 1.27.0 · 06.10.2026 · The ending

Jayraid has an ending: the bell creature on the ships guards the wand, a blue companion from the caves, the golem only topples to the sabre and only dies to the wand, the treasure chest and the credits. Also: jump out of the water onto a low shore.

## Alpha 1.26.0 · 06.10.2026 · Shadows and bloom

Golem, divers and guns cast shadows and stand in the shade of trees and walls; the sun, fire and the golem furnace glow beyond their edges (both under Light in the settings).

## Alpha 1.25.0 · 06.10.2026 · Ambient occlusion

Niches, wall bases, ground under roofs and tree crowns and narrow gorges get less skylight: short rays check the surroundings of every face.

## Alpha 1.24.0 · 06.10.2026 · Death animation

When you die, the view tips to the ground, hand and sabre crumble into hexagons, and the screen goes dark cell by cell.

## Alpha 1.23.2 · 06.10.2026 · Reset ruins

/ruine leads to the nearest untouched ruin; /ruine neu resets a ruin after a fight.

## Alpha 1.23.1 · 04.10.2026 · Version numbers

Every version carries its Alpha number; the game shows it in the main menu.

## Alpha 1.23.0 · 04.10.2026 · Boss music

Its own music for the golem fight: slower, deeper, with heavy bass. It never mixes with the enemy music.

## Alpha 1.22.0 · 04.10.2026 · Rivers

New worlds have brooks springing from hillsides and great rivers carving deep valleys down to the sea.

The golem throws divers at you, leaps out of craters and tears holes in the wall.
